WHO WE ARE

Lucky Cat Adoptions is an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit cat rescue organization formed in January 2005. We exist solely on donations and through fundraising efforts. We do not receive monies from any city, state or federal agency. Every penny collected pays for veterinary care, food, litter and essential expenses for the animals we rescue.

Our mission is to improve the welfare of stray and abandoned cats and kittens throughout the Jacksonville metropolitan area. We aim to achieve this through the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of homeless felines from animal shelters, found stray, abandoned, neglected and/or abused. We strive to educate the public on responsible pet ownership and promote spay/neuter. We are dedicated to end the tragedy of pet overpopulation by opposing pet stores selling live animals and irresponsible over breeding of companion animals.

Approximately 5 MILLION healthy, loving, adoptable dogs and cats are killed in the United States each year because there are not enough homes for the millions of animals being bred. For every human birth, approximately seven cats and dogs are born.  Do your part - please spay and neuter your pets!

Note: Many cats and kittens that are rescued by Lucky Cat Adoptions are kept in "permanent foster care" and are never put up for adoption due to their health status and/or sociability.  Some cats and kittens are feral and will never make good house pets. These cats receive the same medical care that our adoptable cats do and are re-homed as barn cats or with people who have land and are willing to let the cats live out their lives in a safe environment.  Please contact us if you are interested in providing a safe haven for healthy feral cats.  Thank you!

Due to the limited amount of space in our foster homes and the overwhelming number of kittens and cats needing help at this time, we are unable to take in any new fosters .  If you have a stray cat or kitten that needs help or are looking to rehome your own cat, please click here to find out how to find homes for homeless pets.  We are in the middle of kitten and puppy season which means that EVERY rescue organization and animal shelter in the Jacksonville area is facing this same situation - lack of space and not enough adoptions.  Hundreds of animals are dropped off at area shelters daily and are being euthanized due to lack of space and not enough adoptions.  Please do what you can to save your stray - you do not have to be a rescue group to do this - all of us in rescue are just regular people like yourself who have a compassion for animals and a desire to help.  click here to find out how to find homes for homeless pets.
